Photographer and photography instructor Donna Rosser gives hands-on training with the various qualities of one of the most versatile mood creating tools a photographer can own – the Lens Baby. This lens gives you the ability to bend the light, blur and slur images, and select the sweet spot of focus whether you are taking a portrait, landscape, or macro image. Not only is the lens a selective focus lens – it contains an optic swap system that will allow the photographer to take photos as if she had a zone plate, pinhole, or plastic optic camera. Students will have the opportunity to use a lens on a Nikon or Canon mount and view images via projector during the class.

The versatile and easy-to-use Lensbaby series of lenses can make ordinary images into works of art. The Lensbaby lens gives photographers a new tool to get creative with their work -- to bend light, blur and slur images, and select the sweet spot of focus whether you are taking a portrait, landscape, or macro image. The lens is not only selective focus but contains an optic swap system that will allow the photographer to take photos as if she had a zone plate, pinhole, or plastic optic camera.

Donna Rosser will give detailed demonstrations of how the lens can be used and what effects can be seen. Perfect for those already owning a Lensbaby, and for those photographers considering adding it to their photographic tool kit. Photographers will have hands-on use of the lenses and accessories and learn how to change aperture rings and the optic swap system.
This class is for the photographer comfortable with their camera.  The lens is for an SLR camera – film or digital.

The class will consist primarily on a lecture on the Lensbaby, with example photos shown via projector.  A handout will be provided with detailed directions, information, and exercises to practice with the lens.  Students will have the opportunity to use a lens on a Nikon or Canon mount.  Participants may go outside or to another part of the facility to shoot. These images may also be viewed via projector during the class.

About the Instructor

Donna Rosser, owner of The Barefoot Photographer®, has been taking photographs since she was 9 years old. Forty years since Donna tracked the woods of Virginia with her grandfather, she is spending time in the woods near her Georgia home.  Donna prefers natural light and natural settings. Just a few years ago she began teaching workshops and founded a local photography group. Donna’s photos are part of many personal and commercial collections. She has been consistently juried into photo shows including Slow Exposures.

Donna has been featured in newspapers, podcasts, and magazines; and her photos have been used on Atlanta news shows. In 2009, she turned her talent to directing Nature, Undisturbed, a juried photography exhibit benefiting the Southern Conservation Land Trust. The show was such a success in its inaugural year, it will continue as an annual event.
