Printing Studio

The Printing Studio at Serenbe Photography Center uniquely offers a printing facility for traditional as well as digital photographs.  Our lab is clean, & professionally managed and photographers at all levels can produce high quality prints affordably while maintaining creative control over each step of the printing process.  Our lab is designed to be used independently by professionals and working artists, and we have lab techs available Wed - Sun to assist beginner and intermediate printers. SPC offers classes throughout the year in beginning to advanced traditional and digital processes. See our workshops. For private session tutoring contact Stephen Brownlee, Lab Director.

Traditional Color Printing

We host  3 color darkrooms with enlargers for 35mm, 120mm and 4 x 5” and 8 x 10" negatives.  We have both Omega and Beseler and DeVeer enlargers available.

Our color processor accepts paper up to 31” wide and as long as needed. It's easy to make up to 30” x 40” prints with our system. Processing paper takes approx 3.5 minutes and prints exit the processor dry and ready to mount. We run RA-4 Fuji chemistry in the processor and recommend Fuji Crystal Archive paper, though any RA-4 paper can be used. Printers bring their own paper to the lab, or we buy from our stock –  for questions about color printing, printing papers etc, please contact Stephen Brownlee, Lab Director for more information - or call 770-463-9098.

In order to keep our color chemistry in top condition we operate the color processor by demand/use, usually 10 days per month. Join our lab e-mail list and each month we’ll send you a message letting you know times available for traditional color printing as well as other news from TPPS lab or check our Lab Calendar.

Traditional Black and White Printing

Our lab features a large “gang” Black and White darkroom facility with 5 enlargers handling negatives from 35mm up to 8  x 10”.  It is a “wet” darkroom where prints are developed in trays and then air-dried.  Our trays/sink accommodates paper up to 30” x 40.”  We also have tanks and reels for developing 35mm and 120 film. We stock Ilford Multigrade developer for paper and ID-11 developer for film, Ilford stop bath, Ilford Rapid Fixer, PermaWash and Photo-Flo.  All printers bring their own paper. Please bring your own chemistry if you wish to use anything other than what we stock.

If you have questions about B&W printing paper or chemistry, or where to purchase these, please contact our Lab Manager for more information.
